Methodology

A row is verified only when its evidence URL was fetched on the date shown and that page demonstrated Bitcoin acceptance — a checkout option, a payments or FAQ statement, or a current payment-processor directory listing. A cron job re-fetches every evidence URL once a day and classifies the retrieved text; the classifier reads only the fetched page and is never allowed to fill gaps from prior knowledge. Pages that no longer show acceptance move to dropped and stay listed at the bottom of this page rather than disappearing. Pages that are ambiguous, blocked, or unreachable for three consecutive days become unverified — the honest answer when the evidence will not load. Rows we could not confirm at all are excluded from the ledger rather than padded into it. The full dataset, including evidence URLs, is published at /data.json under CC BY 4.0.
